Literary Meme
I don't usually do stuff like this on here, and nobody 'tagged me in', as the kids are calling it these days, but I like books, so what the hey.
One book that changed your life:
I can actually name a few here:
Early Autumn by Robert B. Parker
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (I know, I know, but it did and I'm not apologizing for it)
13th Gen by William Strauss and Neil Howe
The Heart of Rock and Soul by Dave Marsh
One book you've read more than once:
One book?! I read everything more than once. Everything I like, anyway.
One book you would want on a desert island:
Psssshhh... it'd have to be a pretty big and interesting book. Maybe I should pick something that the only way I could make myself read it is if I was trapped on a desert island with it. Like the Bible or something.
One book that made you laugh:
Lots of possibilities here (Westlake! Wodehouse!) but the one that's made me laugh the most, the most often, and the hardest was probably Dennis Hensley's Screening Party.
One book that made you cry:
I don't think any book ever made me cry outright, but I can well up a bit at the end of Lord of the Rings and Watership Down, probably among others.
One book you wish you had written:
How about the Wild Cards shared-world superhero series by, among others, George R.R. Martin?
One book you wish had never been written:
I wish Gertrude Stein had never put pen to paper.
One book you are currently reading:
Trying to get through Gene Wolfe's series The Book of the New Sun. I'm on the second book so far. It's okay, but I had heard it was supposed to be really great and I'm not feeling it yet.
One book you have been meaning to read:
One of these days I'm gonna make it through Gormenghast.
Tag five people:
Why should I? Nobody tagged me. Besides, I don't think I know how.
Labels: Legion of Super-Heroes

Hey, when I got tagged, I refused to tag anyone in return. Consider yourself tagged by me, amigo.
Fantastic list! Definitely a second on resurrecting the Wild Cards series.
I myself was very shy about tagging people and didn't want to obligate someone. If I'd know you were interested I so would have tagged you! Next time this sort of thing happens I think I'll just fill that line in with "Hey, nominate yourself if you wanna be tagged!"
Thanks. When I posted this I was pretty unclear on the 'tagging' concept. I thought there might be some kind of, I don't know, some kind of 'Tag' function built into the blogging software that I didn't know how to use. So now I feel a little silly. "I don't know how to write blog entries about lemonade! I can only write about superheroes! Where's the 'lemonade' button?"
Man, now I want a lemonade button on my blog.
