Happy 50th anniversary to, uh, some fictional characters. I wasn't trying to cover everything with this little panel salad; I just wanted to provoke memory. If any eras or characters are under- or over-represented, that's just the way it came out.
That last panel always chokes me up.
That was a wonderful tribute, Matthew. ^_^ Geez, the Swan panel and that last one choked me up too! Lol. It is so so great to see that Legion fans keep the love going for this group. 50 years and onward...! Josh, (josh_jesterworld) with a flight ring on
That was just awesome, Matthew. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words, and it was my pleasure... but of course the real thanks go to Messrs. and Mmes/Mlles. Binder, Plastino, Siegel, Swan, Shooter, Forte, Hamilton, Bates, Cockrum, Tuska, Grell, Sherman, Mooney, Staton, Levitz, Giffen, Larocque, Lightle, Mahlstedt, Broderick, Bierbaum, Bierbaum, Gordon, Immonen, Waid, Moy, Moy, Moder, Stern, Peyer, Abnett, Lanning, Coipel, Batista, Simone, Kitson, Calero, Manapul, Torres, Serra, Manning, Beavers, Greene, Johns, Frank and dozens of deserving others whose names I'm either forgetting or haven't learned.
Bedard!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane - without the need for a time bubble.
That was amazing. There are quite a few of these panels that choked me up. This tribute really reminded me of all I loved (and still love!) about the idea of the Legion.
Matthew, what a great tribute, thanks for the memories! If there was anything I could think to add to your excellent piece it would be this Legion creators pic posted by wildwolfkid at the DC messageboards.

Thanks, all. Ken, neat pictureset... I could only identify a few of those by sight, though.
wow.
I'm a relative newbie to the Legion, but that hit me exactly like it was supposed to.
You're going to post a key, RIGHT?
Please?
Actually, no, I'm not; I'd rather let the pictures speak for themselves. But if somebody else wants to do it I don't mind.
That was brilliant, Matthew, thanks.
It is my privilege.
I followed the link her from the sub pdscasters and I'm so glad that I did. What an awesome trip down memory lane! Here's to 50 more!
Murray
Thanks!
What an array.Silly how some fans stick to only one single part of the group's run, denying themselves the total experience. They need to look at the Legion's history with the eyes of a Joseph Campbell:The Legion With A Thousand Faces.
Alas,2008 was not the best year to have a golden anniversary.Started out so well;Shooter on the book,TV show on the air.At year's end, Shooter off the book,TV show off the air.Book cancelled with issue 50,perhaps in tribute to the 50th anniversary.Hardy har har.Bad feeling all around.
But like all the best superheroes, the Legion never stay down. They're back on the stands. If the Legion can overcome their own 50 year anniversary, they can overcome anything.
They need to look at the Legion's history with the eyes of a Joseph Campbell:The Legion With A Thousand Faces.
Yeah, yeah; like that.
