This may not be the place to put this but I've seen a redacted Who's Who style character sheet called "Legionnaire" and I was wondering what this implicates to you.

What are your thoughts on Johns being the vessel for the next Legion iteration? Is there some speculation on the identity or premise behind this character? Do you have any theories? Where do you stand with the concept of expanding the lore with prequel (i.e. - a Golden Age proto-Legion)? Where do you see the Legion post-Bendis?

Grateful for your vigilance with LA. Indeed one of the keepers of the flame during these times of torpor.

Doesn't suggest much to me beyond the obvious: there's going to be some Golden Age character who's either a Legionnaire or closely connected to a Legionnaire. Presumably an existing one, or why hide their identity? No speculation on the identity from me; could be about anybody depending on how they do it. I file this whole idea under, "unnecessary, but probably won't do any harm".

(I did once come up with the idea of the Earth-2 Legion being the Golden Age Newsboy Legion. This is original Earth-2 continuity, you understand, when Superman first appeared in the '30s. They'd take young Clark Kent under their wings and teach him about journalism...)

I think Johns is a capable writer, who has been known to take characters bogged down by continuity and pat them into shape and make entertaining comics from the results. Obviously this ability would be useful in writing the Legion. Unfortunately the last time he turned his attention to the Legion he kept them as supporting players in his other projects and they ended up lying fallow for years. I'm not confident in giving him a second shot at them.

But in any case I don't really want an established writer taking on the Legion. I'd rather someone young and hungry. The book is supposed to be about teenagers; let's not have a writer in their fifties or sixties or whatever trying to write it. I mean, there are writers out there like Kurt Busiek or Gail Simone who would do a great job at it, I'm sure, but let's give someone new a turn. Preferably not yet another straight white man, for a change.

Post-Bendis... well, one good thing, not the only good thing, about Bendis's Legion is that they don't have a lot of baggage. Any other creator ought to be able to step right in and pick up where he left off, with plenty of scope to put their own stamp on the characters. DC could turn this team into an ongoing series tomorrow if they wanted to. Pick a creative team and press Go.
