I read tonight that comedian and actor Taylor Negron just died. He's been memorable in a lot of roles but the one I recall best, and the reason I'm posting this here, is his portrayal of Starfinger in the Legion cartoon a few years ago. Most fun version of Starfinger ever. RIP.

All the Shining Stars Are Dead

Word is that DC is moving its offices out of New York to join the rest of the Time-Warner entertainment types in Los Angeles.

Many are lamenting this move as an end to the comic-book world that was. I imagine there's some truth to that, but honestly I don't really think it matters a lot.

If DC cares about making great comics, they will still care about it in Los Angeles, and they won't let a little thing like their location stop them.

If DC doesn't care about making great comics, they wouldn't care any more about it in New York, and they wouldn't let a little thing like their location make them care about it.

What was it that they did in the last couple of weeks that was annoying? There was something, I know that, that renewed my belief in my vacating of their comics. I forget exactly what it was, though.

But I'm not going to rake them over the coals for moving to California. It probably makes a lot of sense for them, and I think they should do things that make sense. As often as possible.

Lot of stuff going on

There's a lot of stuff going on these days; probably some of it has caught your attention. War, climate change, economic disasters, natural disasters, political upheaval, political repression. And I sit around saying, well, what am I doing about it. Not enough, is what I'm doing about it. No good reason why not, either. I mean, sure, I have hostages to fortune, but I can do something, right?

So let's start here: according to this website, today is American Censorship Day. Go read it, think about it, consider what to do next. Sure, my site here is in important respects a Canadian website... but the blogging service that runs it is American-based, so that's one thing. Plus, I don't know, one cannot do everything, but one has to start somewhere, and this is a good somewhere.

More Legion-related sketch art from the collection of Sarcasm Kid. He actually sent me a whole bunch of these but I don't want to put them all up at once, so here's a couple.

Sometimes I wish I could draw like that. Look at them: obviously quick sketches, miles from a finished product, but they're both looking right off the page at you.

Still also wish Celeste had been developed more as a character.

A Rare Scoop for Legion Abstract

It's not often that I get to break new Legion information on this site. I don't have many connections and that's not really what I'm interested in doing anyway. But I did happen to encounter this little nugget.

Apparently there'll be some kind of Legion-related program or flyer or something at the San Diego comic convention this year, and here's the art for it, by Tom Kelly:

Challenge

A while ago I was flipping through the archives and came across a comic book with some familiar names in the credits. The following panels are from a story that was both written by and penciled by creators who have also written/drawn the Legion. Anybody know who?
